Intro to Dance Teaches toddlers very basic movement principles such as coordination and rhythm while engaging in peer interaction. Baby Tap & Creative Movement are the techniques offered.
Tap Teaches basic tap steps as the child learns rhythm and coordination. Creative Movement I & II An excellent introduction to dance, where the child learns to move to the beat of music. Children begin to explore a variety of dance styles using the imagination. Level II students will learn more advanced dance combinations and are introduced to basic modern techniques. Pre-Ballet & Ballet An introduction to the basic principles of ballet techniques. Students are introduced to dance language/terminology. BALLET I, II, III: A Technique class designed to develop grace, flexibility, coordination, posture, technique, and discipline; using African drumbeats, classical, traditional R&B and Gospel music. This class will include barre work, ballet stretches, center work, variations, and choreography. (45min) JAZZ I, II, III: A technique class, which develops rhythm, strength, and coordination. Its emphasis is on basic – advanced skills such as leaps, kicks, and turns. This class also includes extensive stretching, progressions across the floor, and fun upbeat choreography. (45min) TAP I, II, III: A technique class in which students will learn the basic steps in tap using center floor exercises and combination steps. Each student is expected to gain listening, coordination & concentrations skills. Levels II & III students are expected to know terminology and will learn more advanced techniques. This group will focus on more complicated combinations, exercises and choreography. (45min) Lyrical (ages 10-adults): A class, which combines ballet and jazz techniques, with an emphasis on inspirational choreography which compliments the lyrics of the music. (45min. - 1hr.) Hip Hop I & II (ages 6-10 & 11-18): The Hip Hop Class will start off with a basic warm-up. Then the class will be broken down with a hip -hop combination. This class teaches rhythm, musicality, coordination, and age-appropriate hip hop choreography with no suggestive music/movement. This is an excellent class for high-energy kids and teens who want to take a fun and energetic dance class. (45min.-1 hr.) Musical Theater (ages 7-18): Students will sing, dance and act age appropriate material. Students should have an interest in drama as well as performing musical song and dance numbers. These students will participate with the dance students in our annual recital production. (2 hrs) Kickboxing Aerobics (ages 16-adults): A combination of aerobics, boxing and martial arts, designed to be a great workout for beginners but can also be an invigorating workout for workout enthusiasts. The academy is also equipped with free standing heavy bags to add a different component to the workouts.
