ABOUT THE ACADEMYThe CartersAT VISIONARY PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMY we are dedicated to instilling values, pride, confidence and a feeling of self-worth to children in our communities. Each student will receive technical dance instruction, as well as, the opportunity to develop his/her own dance style. Students are evaluated at the end of the 1st semester to assess their development and to ensure that they are learning at their appropriate levels. All students will participate in a dance production at the end of the season, and may be given the opportunity to perform at other locations throughout the year.

Our staff takes the time to ensure that no child is left behind. We go the extra mile to ensure that all students have progressed by the end of the season. Our classes consist of 10-15 students per class, along with the dance instructor and 2 student assistants, thus allowing the students to receive more individualized attention. Children that are shy or nervous in larger groups are more willing to relax and open up in small group environments. Students are also encouraged to choreograph and share with the class. This allows them to become comfortable with their dance style and uniqueness.

All students, all ages, must speak positive things about themselves as they exit class. They are encouraged to speak a "new" thing each week. At the end of the year, students can easily name their attributes without a second thought. This is the beginning of self love. In addition, our staff goes above and beyond to ensure that all the music used is positive. Music has a major impact on our children, and this is why lyrics are critically analyzed for anything undesirable. At Visionary, we are very mindful of what the children wear and this is why we choose appropriate costumes and themes for the dance productions.

A MESSAGE FROM VICTOR J. CARTER - FOUNDER/CHIEF MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTOR AND
NICOLE M. CARTER - FOUNDER/ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

What an honor and privilege it is to serve the youth in our community.  The Bible is very clear about children.  Multiple scriptures refer to the importance of teaching children and their great value in the kingdom.  Jesus was incensed when the disciples attempted to stop the children from approaching Him; letting them know that to such belongs the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 19:13-15).  We enjoy our opportunities to share a small part of our students' lives, to talk, to fellowship, to teach and pray with and for them.

We desire to make a difference in the children's lives.  There is no greater measure for success than that.

Here at Visionary, we believe that there is more to life than just dance. We reward the students who achieve honor roll and citizenship status in school with different activities and other surprises. We host monthly group sessions for middle and high school aged students. We also have an annual Birthday Party for Jesus, we learn monthly bible verses, and provide many opportunities for community service and participate in culturally enriched field trips when possible.
